World Intellectual Property Day was celebrated on 26 April 2017.

On that occasion the U.S Embassy and Turbine organized an event titled « innovating your way out ». It was hosted at the Turbine incubator at Vivéa Business Park, St. Pierre.

World Intellectual Property Day - Mauritius

I attended the event along with my colleagues from LSL Digital. There was a panel discussion which started sharp at 17h30 and it ended at 19h30. Fabrice Boullé from Turbine welcomed the guests and did some ice-breaking as everybody settled down. Smita Bheenick, Economic & Commercial Assistant for the U.S Embassy then introduced the panelists and invited the first speaker Sanjeev Ghurburrun, an IP Lawyer, to speak about trademark registration.

Other panelists were Mario Guillot, Owner of IV Play brand, Jean-Jacques Arjoon, Singer/Composer at the forefront of “Collectif des Artistes Mauriciens” and Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Head of Innovation Cluster of the Board of Investment.

The entire discussion is available on the Facebook page of LSL Digital.

S. Moonesamy on the other hand live streamed the event on Periscope. There was some interaction on Twitter as the discussions were happening. Nirvan Pagooah took some photos which I have shared in a Facebook album.
