Facebook scam, again…

facebook scam

I was about to write a review on openSUSE 13.1 Beta 1 today. However, something else caught my attention.

On my facebook feeds I saw:

I pinged the person for details. All I needed was the company name. I went around inquiring … and what I realised is : my fellow Mauritians won’t change their attitude to just believe anything & everything to make money. We had ponzi, internet banking scams and yet the moment we see double the money, sit back at home & make money, we simply jump on that blindly.

The company name I got actually is nothing but a promoter of networked marketing. The next couple of minutes I went through dozens of websites with fake reviews (because the people do not exist, you don’t find their existence anywhere else) claiming riches using this marketing scheme. They tell you it’s simple to just sit back at home & make thousands of dollars with a few clicks :)

What I saw next took my heart away. Among the dozens of pages I checked I saw one blog where someone claimed to have been in Mauritius during the flash floods and helped Mauritians. Her next lines ask people to join this marketing scheme so that she can continue the good job of helping people. Wait! Did she just use the flash flood event to fool people into her scheme? Pathetic!

Here is an extract taken from the website:

The page has a Youtube video shot during the flash floods and the description again encourages people to help her helping others. Pfff!
