Are Mauritians being duped into Ethical Hacking?
December 8, 2015
mauritius internet security cybercrimeThe term ‘hacking’ is lucrative and very often people wish to associate themselves with it as a skillset show-off.
I recently read testimonials of Government officers on a Certified Ethical Hacker course by EC-Council. That pushed me to question whether Mauritians are being cheated into ‘ethical hacking’ because it seemed too obvious that the Government was naive enough to fall in this trap.
In recent times, EC-Council’s CEH has attracted many young folks. A mere Google search for ethical hackers in Mauritius would reveal its popularity. Nevertheless, EC-Council does not seem to have a clean track record. Did the persons wishing to become “hackers” carry a proper search on the topic? I doubt.
I would recommend aspiring hackers and Government officers to read Charlatan - EC-Council (ECC) before jumping on the decision whether to or not to go ahead of a Certified Ethical Hacker certification by EC-Council.
In 2013, attrition.org disclosed emails from EC-Council’s Vice President that smeared the company’s name into something as serious as plagiarism.
