Are you registered to vote?
November 15, 2014
The Electoral Commision website has a web application that allows one to check if he/she is registered to vote. The application would be useful to those who are going to vote for the first time. They can verify if their registration is ok; in case it’s not they should inform the Electoral Commission Office. Their address is mentioned on the contact page.
One can also find the number of electors in each village.
Thumbs up for making such tools available. Improve the “User Interface” & “User Experience” though.
While I was already on the website I checked a couple of pages. Needless to say I dislike the look. Plain HTML files with no symmetric layout and a footer with a bunch of texts without any working link.
Update #1
People reported having glitches in their name when displayed. If the name has characters like ä, ë, ï, ö etc, the character is replaced by the ? symbol. I checked the page source and noticed they are using windows-1252
character-set.
UTF-8
character set would be expected in such an application.
