Since a few hours the whois¹ database of the .mu ccTLD is down. If someone queries the database to get information on .mu domain names, an error is displayed.

I tried orange.mu, icta.mu and mcb.mu while using Google DNS 8.8.8.8.

Errors are obtained while using online whois query tools as well.

At the moment of writing, MUNIC website would not load.

nic.mu has no “A” record. In the Domain Name System, the “A” record refers to an “Address”; which is the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the computer to which the domain name is linked.
